Jan Ruhe is a millionaire who started out with Discovery Toys when she was pregnant with her third child in a troubled marriage. She subsequently had to fight for full custody of her kids when the marriage broke down, and was fired up to be both a great mother and a great leader in her business. Here are some of her tips for achieving abundance:
- The first six years in this business, I really messed up. The second six years of my career, book by book, seminar by seminar, practice by practice, I did it and did it BIG.
- Increasing your knowledge is the key. Change what you’re reading. That’s all. 10 minutes a day. That’s all. Simple disciplines that you practice every day will make you successful.
- Walk away from the 97 percent of people who refuse to learn, who will not go to personal growth development seminars. Join the 3 percent—the leaders!
- Write down everything that the pros teach you—everything! Why? Because life changes with education. Not only with inspiration and motivation, but with education, too.
- Provide more value than people expect. Put people first, and success will follow. The most common way of inspiring people is through your own personal example. Set an example. If you want your successline to sell, then you had better be selling. If you want your group to recruit, then you had better be recruiting. If you want your successline to set goals, then you must be setting goals.
- Everything you want from your successline, you must first do yourself.
- Most people focus on what they don’t want. Focus on what you don’t want and I promise you are going to get it. Focus on what you do want and the same holds true.
- It’s the focus that matters, not the wanting or not wanting—because whatever you focus on is what you’ll get. That’s the power of your attention. That’s why we say, “Pay attention.”
