2WriteHands tagged me to talk about 5 songs that made an impact in my life.  Consider yourself tagged:  leave comments below and a link back to your blog where you talk about the 5 songs that made an impact on your life!

(1) "Old Man River "- My Dad used to put on his deepest basso voice and sing this around the farm on the weekends.  I was about five.  I thought every man should have such a voice!

(2) "Love Letters In The Sand "- by Pat Boone.  Reminds me of my mom.  I think it was one of the few silly, sentimental radio hits that she played and sang along to.  I think my parents were very much in love during this time… there was a lot of optimism about the future and no big family crises to that point.  I was probably about five or six.

(3) "Cindy Oh Cindy"- a silly love song from the same era that went something like, "Cindy oh Cindy, Cindy don't let me down, Write me a letter soon, and I'll be homeward bound".  It said my name, right, so it had to be about me?  I remember singing it acappella (well, what else?  Not like I was trained to be accompanied by an orchestra) at my Aunt's Wedding dance.  I never had a good sense of being a separate being during my childhood, so this was probably as much of an affirmation of worth as anything else.

(4) "How Great Thou Art "- I didn't come from a church-going background, really, and when two young Pentecostal or Baptist girls sang this when I was in Grade 2– they got right up and sang in front of the class, no less–  I was mesmerized.  It still moves me, only now I sing along.

(5) "Someday We'll Be Together "- by the Supremes- this was one of "our songs" during those tempestuous courting days back in 1969.  I also remember "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis and "Black Pearl" by Stevie Wonder.

Soooooooo, what about you?  What are your most impactful songs?  Is this healthy stuff?
