I recently received this by email and am passing it along to all American friends who are able to influence legislation around sleep research in their country:
HOUSE AND SENATE NEGOTIATIONS ON SLEEP FUNDING IMMINENT!
SEND E-MAILS VIA OUR NEW ACTION CENTER TODAY!
Federal Funding for Sleep and Sleep Disorders Activities
at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Dear Sleep Advocate:
The House and Senate will soon enter conference negotiations on whether they will provide $1 million for sleep research, education and intervention programs at the CDC. The House version of the Labor, Health & Human Services (HHS) appropriations bill includes this funding, but the Senate version does not. Please e-mail your senators and representative today and let them know that you support sleep funding for the CDC!
Visit our new action center and make your voice heard.
This new funding will lead to increased data collection on the prevalence of sleep problems, the development of education materials for healthcare professionals and teachers and the creation of public health awareness programs. We need your help to end needless suffering and save lives.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about NSF’s programs and advocacy, please visit our Web site or contact me. Thank you.
Sincerely,

John Rancourt
