168-Hour FAST - Day 8

I'm still at it.  Nothing much has changed.  I feel "punk".  Still have the coated tongue.  Dry mouth.  Slightly acid taste.  Eyes sunken into my head.  My skin is still rough and my eyes are still gluey red.

Am I hungry?  No.  Still, visions of food dance through my head.  Stuff I've overindulged in for years, like french fries and mashed potatoes, etc.  I'm dealing with what Herbert M. Shelton calls "appetite".  It's confusing.  I think it is also called "food craving".  That would imply "addiction".  I am going through withdrawal is what is happening.   But, no, I'm not really hungry.

I'm going to see this through… resolve the digestive problems that are a result of stuffing myself in "response" to appetite instead of hunger.  I do feel like I am breathing more fully which would indicate that I had something to clear up in my respiratory system.  That's great!  Praise the Lord.

I finished reading a riveting book by a local boyo named Colin Angus.  He was the first human being to circumnavigate the globe under his own power and his love partner, Julie Wafaei, became the first woman to cross the Atlantic, mainland to mainland, in a rowboat.  He's shared the award podium with Al Gore when honoured by Outside magazine as one of 25 "bold visionaries with world-changing dreams" for his efforts in drawing attention to human-powered locomotion vs. making more fuel emissions.  Colin and Julie received the 2006 "Adventurer of the Year" award from the National Geographic Adventure magazine.  And other recognition for their videos.  You can read my brief book review here along with a link to his home page where you can watch clips of their video, order books, etc.

And I've read quite a lot of Herbert M. Shelton's online book on hygiene and fasting.  Couched in old-fashioned language though it is, it is very instructive and fascinating.

I also came across a really cool raw vegan forum run by an Adventist woman.  If you are thinking about going raw, or if you want to know what it is all about, or maybe just some recipes, you might want to join up.  It seems pretty laid-back and friendly– not preachy or teachy.  Raw Food Lifestyle Maybe I'll see you on there– if I do, please say "hi".

I have some sheets, pillowslips and PJs in the dryer– there was a funny scent that made me nauseous. I think one of my essential oils.  I thought they would be a fine addendum to a fast, but seems one sense of smell is so very acute that anything 'unfamiliar' gets blown all out of proportion.  Hope the scent is gone.
