168-Hour FAST - Day 10

This was supposed to be the last day of my fast, but alas, more work to be done I guess (no hunger, coated tongue continues).  I certainly felt repairs going on throughout the night– pain in various places along my right side– lung, liver, lower quadrant– but I don't feel the pain now.  Still have rumbles, which signifies gas, and apparently not uncommon to anxious folks.  I notice that some dark pigmented spots on my face have faded, so that's good.  I'm not jaundiced, so my liver isn't being compromised.  I'm not pasty white, so I'm not terribly anemic.  I am still not pinky-pink, but that will apparently come as the fast draws to a close (signifies better circulation, both in the face and under the nails).

I didn't sleep as well as I usually do last night– I usually have the window open, but there was a putrid burning smell (might just be my acuter sense of smell) that made me nauseated.  I listened to BBC World Service and Netherlands World Service (I think) on CBC until I drifted off and was awakened by some screaming in one of their documentaries.  Because of listening to the news throughout the day (it was a CBC radio day) I had one nasty little dream and woke abruptly from it.  No news today.

What do I do otherwise you ask?  Read.  Doodle.  Talk to Ed to get the report on the 'outside world'.  Make one trip downstairs to use the Internet.  Dream.  Pray.  Rest.  Rest quite a bit.  Sip a little water.  Listen to relaxation tapes.  Do a little gentle exercise.  A little grooming.  Spend a brief spell with Zoe.

Resting is the essence of fasting.  Resting is how the body goes about healing itself.  Resting is hard work for those of us who are used to multi-tasking.

I took a sniff of the lovely little pineapple on the kitchen counter and hope, like being around babies in pregnancy, that its aroma will induce a conclusion to this fast.

God bless,

Cynthia
